I'm feeling better than I have done for ages!

Hi

I have just been to see my councillor this morning. She gave me a book that she might think will help me to read in this week. It's called "Codependency No More" by Melody Beattie.

I have already started absorbing the book at it seems to describe me and how I feel like I have never seen before. The author is an alcoholic, that have also experienced how it is to be on the other side; on our side.

I'm feeling quite well today. Sometimes this surprise me, but I have to make sure I don't think "Why I am feeling good!? I have no reason to feel good! My life is a mess!"

It's kind of a relief to see that I am not responsible for other people's happiness. I'm especially thinking about my ex-girlfriend that is in recovery. I have no contact with her. First I thought this was only her sponsors way of seeing what is best for us, I have resented my ex-girlfriend for not wanting to have contact.

I'm however slowly starting to really see that this is good for me. I'm learning so much about myself these days. I can feel that I'm changing. Happenings that would put me off track the past seems manageable.

I always feel best on Fridays. This may be due to my F2F meeting in Al-Anon Thursday evenings and my Al-Anon friendly councillor. I gave my councillor some Al-Anon cards that she can have in her waiting room today. She seemed really happy about it and asked for leaflets too, lol. I'll ask at my F2F meeting if this could be arranged on Tuesday.

All in all, I feel that my life is getting somewhere, not because what is around me change, but because I change.

I also have all of you guys to thank for feeling better smile.gif

Are

Are,

I have also enjoyed watching your progress in the program. If you want to see how far you have come re-read your first couple of post to MIP........I did. We have an expression in the South that goes like this......."It's the difference between daylight and dark". That best describes your first post from todays post. Keep working your program, it only gets better.

HUGS,
RLC

I'm happy with you Are...positive change sure beats from where you came and true
to your self description you are thinking about others.  See if your Face to Face has
any "Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism 2010" and if they do take some to your counselors
office along with meeting lists.  That pub is especially mean't to introduce people
to the help of the program.  It's okay to ask yourself why are you feeling so good
cause when you arrive at the answer you can keep practicing it.  Like the alcoholic
we get a daily reprieve based upon our spiritual condition and if you don't stay in
"The" program you can go back to "your" program; the one that brought you here.
I along with RLC remember your early posts which were very different that what
you are describing now...Early change is good, surprising change with lofty, positive
feelings.  Keep following the suggestions...more meetings and literature and look
for some guy with good recovery as a possible sponsor to guide you thru the steps
and more.    In support   (((hugs)))
