Frustrating behavior

My AH calls me to say how much he loves me and bla bla but that he's not gonna stop drinking, he's gonna keep it under control cause, as an alcoholic that he is, his body will need a little bit of alcohol.
I had to stop myself from laughing long enough to say: That's the point. You are an alcoholic and your body will never ask for a little bit of alcohol, it will ask for the whole freaking bar!!
He went on and on until I told him that we should just drop it and he hung up on me, cause I know better that to try and convince him he's in trouble if he doesn't believe it.

But it frustrates me that this man that just yesterday was calling me coked out of his mind, calls me 24 hours later(a bit drunk I might add) to try and convince me he's Ok and to ask me if I love him.

I hate how he makes me question myself just for a tiny second. I hate how wrong he is. He probably says the same thing about me.

Prisc...Let me laugh with you...God your awareness and reaction is humorous.  I hope
you are using it as a tool to comfort your mind and spirit.   I'll drop you a question a
sponsor asked me after I had gone off about my alcoholic wife in front of him.   "Who
are you talking about Jerry F, your wife or your alcoholic."   When I got the answer
to that question straight the frustration and confusion went away.   Thanks for your
touch.   (((((hugs))))) smile

Priscilla,

I can relate. My very active drinking wife was telling me about one of her AA friends who was having problems. She was referring to her friends drinking. My AW's statement to me was "She just doesn't get it". I started to ask her if that were not like the "pot calling the kettle black"------I wanted to laugh or make a comment------ Like------Take your blindfolds off came to mind------Instead I pulled my favorite slogan out of the tool box -----"Don't React".

The slogan "Don't React" allows me to put my mind in gear before I put my mouth in motion.
LOL.

HUGS,
RLC

I can empathize.  I railed against the ex A's disease for years.

Alcoholism is cunning baffling and powerful.

I can get ensnared in a minute.

Maresie.
