Encouraged = )

A is a social drinker NEVER drinks at home only at bars...      With that being said we have eliminated supervised visits (it was causing more problems, etc)...    He is staying at a mutual friends house right now and with the help of my sister she is going to drop and pick up my daughter...   The family can tell from a mile away when A has been drinking so if she feels he is unable to take care of her he doesn't get to see her...

Our mutual friend lives 5 minutes away....

They had their first visit on Tuesday (it was the first time he saw her in over 2 weeks)...  My sister said he looked great he told her that he has been sober this whole time (which really doesn't mean anything to me since he is a binge drinker)...  He was all about his AA meetings at first but now only goes when he feels like he needs it...

Anyway.....    This now means that I will have time to actually go to meetings, I'm so excited = )    I've been coming to this board and using the online meetings which has been so helpful but I think F2F and this board will double my chances to recovery...

Question...    How long did it take for you to get a sponser?     I know myself I will go to my first meeting scouting out the "right" sponser when my focus should be on my recovery....

(((((Hopeful))),

Yes I did that on purpose. I am happy for you. You will find great comfort and support in those face to face meetings.  For some finding a sponsor was really quick.  For me, it took me awhile. I had to find someone who was a good fit. I tried several people before I found one I was completely comfortable with. Don't rush things.  Take your time.  The relationship between a sponsor and sponsee is a very personal intimate thing. I wish you continued success on your journey. Love and blessings to you and your family.

You sound really good, and i'm happy for you, your focusing on you and letting him do his own thing.  I too realize to not be to hopeful for their recovery, especially when they are a binger drinker, because they can go awhile without drinking, you just never know when it's going to start again, it's like a light switches in their head......but either way....you have to think of you now, and your daughter and its so good that you have someone looking out for her welfare as well when it comes to him drinking and visitation.
Good luck with your f2f meetings!  I'm sure you'll find some great people there!
