Keeping the focus on me.

Hello everyone - I am new to the forum although not new to Al-Anon.  I have been in a long term marriage with an A who has been sober for a very long time.  He has some serious issues through which I have been able to maintain sanity and sometimes serenity by keeping the focus on myself.  Lately, I am having diffculty doing this.  It is very hard to keep the focus on yourself when the other person is giving you sooo much amunition with crazy behavior etc.  This morning may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.  I just don't know.  I am very conflicted.  I am going to a meeting in an hour.  Any support and/or tips out there?  I am up and down on this.

Hi there,

Welcome to MIP!  We are so glad you found us.

Without much specific info on what is happening, I can't give you any direct experience I have had.  But, keeping the focus on you - going to meetings - and working your program as a wonderful foundation that leads to making good choices.

So, it sounds like you are heading the right direction to me!

Please keep coming back.  We look forward to getting to know you.

Tricia

Open up to your sponsor and the membership and ask for feedback of experience like
you did here.  We all have different experiences so if you want to be more specific
later on do so.   Have a great meeting.  Take some (((((hugs))))) for the other
members.   smile
