Invitation to Happiness was the theme for the Massachusetts State Convention this weekend.
Boy am I glad I accepted this invitation . . . a weekend of meetings, fellowship, friendships reunited and new ones made . . . what a gift. We had over 500 in attendance from all over New England. We had two member who came the farthest and our own Mandy123 took the gold, second was an Oreygone member.
Though I am emotionally spent (in an awesome way), I am much blessed for having heard the experience, strength and hope of so many incredible shares. I barely slept the weekend and danced until 12:30 am last evening. The hips are a little soar, a reminder of my aging body even though my mind still thinks I am 20.
I also had the gift of serving the convention committee and I made the most wonderful new friends. This past year was my training; 2011 convention I serve as a chair. What an amazing opportunity to select the theme, chose the keynote speaker, design the brochure and work with many talented alanoners.
If you ever have the opportunity to attend a state convention, it's an invitation worth considering; and if you happen to be near ole Taxachusetts next May, I hope y'all can join me.
in recovery, Maria
