With warm weather comes more drinking

I don't know about you but here at my home when the weather starts to turn nice and warm my AH drinks more and tends to go out to drink. Like stopping on his way home from work and then driving home. Over the years I have come to this conclusion. Things always get worse when things get  nice outside. Like he was a seasonal drinker or something like that. It may sound crazy but it is history repeating itself year after year. Summer always seems to be to worst part of the year. His disease rears its ugly head 1000 fold. I guess I will just have to work my program even harder to keep my serenity. I refuse to allow this year to be the same. Not for me at least, he can do as he usually does, that is his choice. It just baffles me, like most things do that concern him, that he drinks heavier in warmer weather. As I write this I feel as though I am insane for having figured this out. But I guess it is best for me to know ahead of time what I am looking at. Maybe I will be batter able to "protect" my serenity. Working my program will be my top priority and taking care of myself the major parts of my life. As they are most of the time, I work on that each day. I wonder if anybody else has ever noticed the same thing with their alcoholics or addicts. Just so I don't feel quite so crazy for thinking that I figured out some major mystery. Feedback is welcomed.

Yours in recovery,
wildthang86

(((Michelle)))

As we say in Al-anon "You are not alone". I agree----- we or either both crazy---- or you are on to something. Of those two choices------ I prefer to think you are on to something. LOL. It's not something I had thought about---but something subscientiously I was aware of. I guess beer sales do go up during warmer weather, and I know someone who helps to increase that volume.

Keep taking care of yourself, and keep doing "at least" one nice thing for yourself "every" day.

HUGS,
RLC

I can relate, its warmer so he explains the need for a nice refreshing drink. O wish he would just have a cold glass of water. And with warmer weather comes boating, camping, golfing, bbqs and these all seem to be associated with alcohol. So yes summer is the worst season here followed by winter when its curling season, I dread when he goes curling, because this is where he has his worst drunks. I am glad I have recently found Al anon, I know it will help prepare me for these time when it rears up its ugly head.

I can remember so well dreading spring time and warm weather....seemed to be as soon as that sunshine was out so was my husband...so no it's not in your head...keep working your program....take it the only way you can one day at a time...can't control him or the weather....best of luck.

Best Wishes,
Andrea
