The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Welcome to MIP. You now have a place where you can find the help you need when dealing with the disease of alocholism. Members here understand what you are going through as perhaps no one else can. You are not alone anymore. We who have lived with the disease can offer our own experience, strength, and hope to you. I was just like you when I came into the grips of this disease. It did not happen overnight. It continued to take a stronger hold on my alocholic wife and at the same time made my life more and more unmanageable. I am forever grateful I found the rooms of Al-Anon. It changed my life. It can do the same for you.
Al-Anon is for people who are affected by someone elses drinking. From reading between the lines of your short post, you qualify. If you desire you can post again and tell your story. No one will offer you any advice. Why? Because you are the only one who knows what is best for you. What I can tell you is that you have no control over someones elses drinking. The only person you have any control over is you. By coming here for help you have taken the first step in your recovery.
What you will receive here are ways others have dealt with the problems alochol caused in their lives and things they did to make their life better. This program will work for you, as it has worked for countless thousands world wide. Please, do this for yourself---you deserve it.
Let me say again, you are not alone. You have found a group of loving, caring and understanding people who are here for you and will help you start taking care of yourself. You have found a new family.
Keep coming back.

Aloha Hazel...errrr we don't give advise and like RLC passed on we share our experience strength and hope with you for what worked and didn't work for us and that which has worked over a long period of time for others and which was then freely given to us as we asked for it like you have....so you're here asking and the title to your thread leads me to assume that you are either an alcoholic in AA or a Counselor with alcoholics or both.
I have worn those shoes and am a grateful member of the Al-Anon Family Groups who wishes never to drink again and therefore a member of AA also. I have had a career as a behavioral health counselor in clinical alcohol and substance abuse and addition on several levels.
I am a member of MIP for two reasons...one to give away and the other to get from this marvelous fellowship. Since we acknowledge that we can only progress toward right living and will never reach perfection we hang around each other and protect each others backs and where all and stand in support of each other because that is what we also desire.
Welcome to the board...what have you been doing that hasn't worked out for you.
