i read a sign a long time ago that has had a profound effect on me and stays with me to this day - you know the signs i mean? the cartoon type ones that are usually hung on the back of lavatory doors. In fact, if i remember correctly, it was on the back of my mum's lav door just after she split with schizo bf....anyway,,,that's another story! it read:- "IF YOU LOVE SOMETHING LET IT GO! IF IT FLIES AWAY, NEVER TO RETURN, IT WAS NEVER YOURS IN THE FIRST PLACE. IF IT COMES BACK, IT IS YOURS TO KEEP FOREVER." How true that seems to be now! i have had to let my soul mate go. it hurts me so much not to be with him but i know that if he can come back to me a well man then we will have the life we dreamed of making together. if he doesn't come back, i will know that it wasn't meant to be. i have reached the stage that i have accepted that i have no control over this illness, no matter what i say or do. i believe strongly that if he wants to get well, he will. i show him compassion and love, as you would any sick person, within the boundaries i have laid down. i am in a good place tonight!
I remember that one in early recovery myself...profound message; kinda a "trust God" message. The one I got had butterflies on the card and since then everytime I see a butterfly or butterflies I gotta smile and remember the message. Yesterday I saw a rare minature white monarch and I thought...."Just for me?" HP knows how to get my attention and often times does it just to let me know who actually runs the whole show. yeah...thats the one...i think it might have said love is like a butterfly....if you love it let it go etc..... :)
