The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I disabled I live with an alcoholic mother and an a verbally abusive step father. I am, if I can afford to move to assisted living faculity. I am not sure I can.
Do you know if there are any Al-Anon meetings in your area? Can you call around and perhaps find one where someone will offer you a ride to a meeting? A friend of mine is blind and I (as well as many others) bring her to meetings all the time. We're always more than happy to help out - I hope youf ind the same kind of support where you live.
I am new to this message board so I hope this is a recent post-some are really old. Anyway, just hoping you know that you are in my prayers . In Alanon we learn to put our problems in their true perspective -ie -everyone has problems. Then we learn how to handle them through Alanon-reading, journaling calling a sponsor or other members and if possible attending meetings. All it takes is two people for a meeting -maybe you can call a local group and find a sponsor who will meet with you at home or anywhere that you can get to. We come to believe in the care of a Higher Power who takes care of us. Also, there is a program called Lone Member Service in which you are written to by a member so you can have Alanon in your life. You do need it to recover. PS-Also read the literature each day
