Update since Daughter's Accident

(((((((Hello Friends))))))))),

Well she got her stiches out hope it looks worse than it's gonna be....she had a brain scan, MRI, Friday we go back to trama clinic in Pittsburgh....she has discovered some new problems today....she can't go to the bathroom is having a hard time peeing.....it has been a road let me tell you...the test on her heart came out fine...dr said just bruised will heal on it's own....

She has missed two weeks of college and I am very worried for her....talked to her adviser today said she will help Samantha...that was a relief...I told her if she is not feeling better soon maybe just take the semester off and start back in Jan. she is not very happy to hear that one....teenagers....

I am  totally exhausted...my g-daugter only seems to want me...lol....she knows her mom is sick.....she keeps pointing at her face and saying eye...it's so sad...

On a good note she is recovering slowly, she is alive and here so I'll take that.   It has been a bit stressful around here.

My son got a new girlfriend, her mom brought her over to meet us the other night I thought that was great...not many parents go to that extent these days.

Here we are one parent g-daughter to a teen....she probably though OMG my daughter is not coming here alone...lol...I assured her I am always home...she seems like a very nice girl....

Well that's about it...just wanted to touch base and thank everyone for the prayers and concern.

Love ya,
Andrea

hi, ive been watching your threads, cause ive been in a bad car accident in 03 and i know how it feels to be in your daighters shoes. =( no fun at all.

as for her urinary retension, if she is taking vicodin or any painkiller simular to vicodin, (e.g. hydrocodone, loratab, ect.) it can do that. theres not much to be done about it other than lay off the pain killers for a day or two, but if youre in pain, its a d*mned if you do d*mned if you dont situation.

if she isnt taking pain killers, i hate to say it, but maybe she should mention it to her doctor. i know after the millionth trip to the doctor that shes probably about ready to pull out her hair.  my accident was right before my freshman year of college, i feel for her.

keep your chin up, you wonderful mom you. youre doing great. =)

(((Andrea))),

Thanks for the update.  The heart is trully a remarkable organ.  I know it's hard for her to consider to take the semester off.  When my Mom passed I missed a couple of weeks.  I was so overwhelmed trying to make up the work and dealing with her passing that it was just too much.  My advisor took me gently aside and reassured me that in the long run it would be better if I started fresh the following semester. I tried to argue w/him.  But he was right.  I was able to refocus and did much better.  I think with everything that was going on, a part of me didn't want to disappoint Mom or myself by showing them I couldn't handle it.  Call it pride or stubborness.  Taking the semester off was the best thing I did.  I gave myself time to heal.  Nobody will think less of your daughter if she does the same.

Glad to hear Zach has a girlfriend.  Kiss the granddaughter for us. Oh by the way, where's her boyfriend in all of this? Did I miss something?  Will continue to say prayers for her speedy recovery.  Much love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty heart.gif
