He only made it to 21 days this time.......

After 21 days of a 28 day recovery programme my Ason is back living rough on the street. My daughter spoke to him this morning thinking he was still in rehab but he told her he was drinking and was going to continue drinking. I havent contacted him.....

Please keep him in your prayers.

Love Ness x

Dear Ness,

I am so very sorry to hear the latest update regarding your son.

I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I pray your son returns to treatment shortly.

One of the things I think is so important to remember about people in treatment is that, well, it's treatment. It's not a permanent fix, it's not an intervention; it gives the person enough information to figure out if they want this, if they're willing to work for it, etc.
I think it's so important to realize that now your son knows where to go and what to do. He knows, now what the next right thing is. And he may not need to stay the whole time--for him, he may have all the information he needs now to make the decision whether or not he wants to stay sober.
The last thing I want to say, and this might hurt, is that your son went to treatment, not you. At a certain point, his life is not yours to live.He has to make a life for himself, mistakes and all. At a certain point, he's responsible for himself. You did a great job. It's ok to let go now.

(((((Ness)))))...prayers for your son for sure.   Tiger sent hope.  It is what he
picked up in the first 21 days that could save his life that will save his life if
he can be honest and willing to use it.   In the meantime..."God can and will
do for him what he cannot do for himself."

I am sorry for your sadness. I will keep you in my prayers. My son is also in a 28 day program. I loved Tiger's response and really never thought about it that way. This is treatment not a cure. I will try to be grateful for all the information he is getting there. You son got plenty of info in 21 days too.

Thanks everyone.
I delivered him into the hands of his hp when I took myself to Alanon in January.....he walks his own path and I walk mine....I'm practicing loving detachment every day.....some days are easier than others.
Your support, as always, I'm grateful for
.
Love Ness xx

I can imagine this is very very rough for you. Some people's bottoms are indeed very very low.

noI am so sad for your family hon. BUT he got 21 days. We never know what might have soaked in. He is very young, that age they think they are invulinerable. That is why they sign up to go into the service. Nothing is going to happen to them!

I am glad you are not out there trying to hunt him down. It would only tear you up.

Yes we will keep him in HPs hands. YOU too.

There is soooo much hope. love, debilyn

You're a great bunch.....thanks for all your support.

I had my f2f today and the topic was 'this day is mine'.....the readings were from odat & what I needed to hear.....and I have lived today in the beauty of the first sunshine for ages glowing through the autumn leaves, the drive to my meeting is along a beautiful lochside road skirted by natural woodland......peaceful, beautiful and serene.....soaked it up moment at a time.

Love.....Ness xx
