It's funny how we learn we are powerless over the alcoholic....funny thing is we are powerless over so many things in our lives.
Powerless over the choices our children make, powerless over mom's still ringing our ears...powerless over so many things in life.
Today for me was a day of ok, I am Powerless...do not like my daughter's boyfriend think she can do much better has been making me a little crazy today I decided I can give her my advice on my very own life experiences and she can become empowered...because, I am powerless to choose however I am empowered to help her.
Son is your typical 17 yr old know it all....once again powerless over some of his choices...can talk and reason and gee guess what now he is empowered to at least think about his choices....
It's funny how admitting we are powerless gives us the power to become empowered...afte all reacting and acting are the differance between sanity and insanity.
Just some feelings I have been feeling today....some thoughts and some actions I am taking in my life. I so wish things were as easy as they sound.....I suppose that is where alanon comes in helps make sense of it all....

I like that post Andrea and I like being powerless cause when I arrive at it I just drop it, let it go and go back to whistling while I work on my own life.
If you are powerless over it and still try to lift it...you get a hernia.
Well said my friend. Whenever I am feeling off kilter, I go back to Step 1. Doesn't matter if it's addiction, work or personal related. I am just powerless over what ever is happening at that moment. You're right it is empowering. Once we accept that we are powerless it's liberating. What we are NOT powerless over is how we react to the situation. Turn it over to HP and detach.
