The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I have tried this board. I never intended to make this a regular habit. I go to a wonderful church with wonderful people. That is my lifeline. I hope you all find solutions to your problems.
Thanks for trying MIP. I'm sorry it did not work out for you. I hope you find solutions to your problems also. Al-Anon is not for everyone, but for me it has saved my life, even though at times I have had to keep and "open mind", and "take what I want and leave the rest".
I read your posts, it may be possible that when one does not take Al Anon seriously, never planned to make it habit, went to a meeting but did not plan to hang much, it was uncomfortable, needs it more than this person even realizes.
Also part of getting well is listening and responding to others. Al Anon is what it is because we care about each other. Someone coming only for answers for their obstacles more than likely won't get anything out of it.
When we give with our hearts, we get more back than we ever could imagine.
When people come to mip or any 12 step program and only think of themselves, they are not working a recovery program.
As far as your mothers response about your father. No one knows but her what made her say that. No one else can answer that. Plus after living in that situation, I would guess she was very sick too. You may never read this, however, I invite you to become part of a 12 step program with the idea of sharing your experiences and responding to others.
