Good weekend:looking forward to another one!

Most of the time I try to live one day at a time!  But lately I have been noticing that I look forward to the future a little more!  It is kinda funny when you consider that I used to really look forward to dying & that I would definitely been in a better place than this "crappy" world!
Today is a good day.  It is raining & cool here. It is nice after a very hot last few days!
Back to my weekend: I spent most of it with my husband.  We went to a benefit for a friend of mine's
kids.  Their father was very young when he died.  But, anyway, the food was good & all but the main purpose of being there was to help them financially which we did.  That really made me feel good & actually made my weekend.
This coming weekend our AA groups are sponsoring a campout which we will be attending as well & I am looking forward to that , too.  If I wasn't in recovery, I would probably dread going I think.
Also, on Friday, my AH & I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary!  It is truly a miracle & a blessing to have made it this long!  We have had so many ups & downs in our marriage, that only God couldv'e really kept us together & return us both to sanity during most of our ten years.  We both needed to realize that God did for us what we could not do for ourselves.  I am so grateful that we took our time over 2006-2008 to get our stuff together so that we could reunite in the end.  For those who are not familiar with my story: we went through a short separation after my AH husband not only went back to drinking but ended up in a few mental hospitals on his way "home".
Now we are making it & working through our differences.
Sorry for the long post!  I am just so excited about what it ahead & trying not to dwell too much on the past!
Bless you all!

It is so good to read "success stories" in the al-anon/AA programs. I am so thankful that yours and your husbands marriage worked out and that you will be celebrating 10 lovely years together! I think that is a great milestone in todays percentages of divorces.

I'm also happy that you can see the good in the sad today. That's what makes this life worth living. You saw that even though the young father had died that you were able to help his kids in the way of this benefit, that is true acceptance and growth.

Giving yourself time to grow and mend seperately during the 2006-2008 years also shows growth and maturity on both your parts. Congratulations and Happy 10th Anniversary!

Sincerely,

Overcome
