Reclaiming ME....part 2....

All my life Ive loved music... Im open to all kinds but always veer back to old blues and rock.

I havent really been into my music for at least couple of years, yes I have the radio on in the background... but to actually chill, relax and really get into it...no....... WHY.....because  Ason and I love the same kind of music......we really bonded through music.....he plays brilliant guitar (till he sold it for drink).....and it was just too painful to hear all that stuff.... so silence was preferable.

A favourite song came on the radio today that I hadnt heard for...oh I dont know how long......years....it just reminded me of ME...it was MY SONG and I'd forgotten it...... and for the first time in a long time I wanted to hear MORE....  So I rummaged in my packing boxes for my fav cds...(weve built a new house and most of our life is still in boxes) and had an afternoon of music mayhem......amidst the madness!!

The cat didnt like it one bit........

Wow Ness! That is great that you are reclaiming your music!!!

After I had been in program for a few months, I was sharing at a meeting that I was just rediscovering my love of music. My A hated my music, and would destroy any and all that I loved. So, I stop loving music.

The next meeting a friend brought me in a cd of some music he thought I would like. I cherish that cd. It was the cd that set me free....lol!!!

enjoy you music, let it help heal you.

Hi Ness

I am so very glad you searched out your CDs and enjoyed your music.  wink

I too found I had let go of so many little things that I enjoyed in the process of trying to fix someone else.  This is a great step in youyr recovery.

Thanks for your inspiring shares and I m sure if yu gave the cat an extra treat she might start to enjoy the show as well

You and your family are in my prayers.

Ness,

Good for you!!   I often lose myself in music, it's an underlying requirement in this family..lol
My Asober played in a band when he was young, opening for some pretty big groups (The Who).  All my kids love and know music from the 70's to current because they've grew up on it..
I can relate to the bond between you and your son via music.  My son is the only one home with me (hubby works in Alaska) and is in a band.  He's the only one here so we go to concerts together.
I think although painful, you can still have that music bond with your son.  It just needs a little reworking.
In the mean time, keep enjoying it...It's one of those simple things in life that we have at our fingertips.

Christy
