Speaking of trees....

Some of you might remember the winter before last that I posted pics of my tree that looked unsavable due to a ice storm.  The weight of the ice split it down the middle and the branches hung to the ground.  It held many memories.  The tree and my son are the same age.
That spring my neighbor and I decided we were going to try and save it.  We trimmed and climbed for hours..lol  (and I hate heights)
Here's the before and afters.. I can't get the pics to post so here are the links..Hope that works.

Now, it actually needs a trim!!

Holy Crow!!!! Hard to believe that is the same tree!!!

I just now got an email and the jist of it was apperciate everyone in your life. When our parents get old, when the dog's hips get bad, when the kid gets a bad report card...we do not throw them away...

When a tree splits down the middle....it CAN be repaired, it CAN heal!!!

That is wonderful Christy!!! Great job!!

The moral here is that we TOO can be healed, even when we are split down the middle and others give up on us.

The tree huggers are all here in this family.

Thank you Christy for this. Wonderful.

Love Suzannah

Wow.  I too thought, can this really be the same tree?  And then reading others' posts, I'm reminded that this is what can happen with ME too, if I invest the hours and hours of climbing and trimming and repairing - and CARING - about myself.  I can be healed, and look like a brand new tree.

I am reminded of a story I read years ago that has always stuck with me.  This happened in a large city, maybe one of the boroughs of New York, where trees are not so common.  The writer's family found an apartment that had 2 huge evergreens outside, and his dad just loved those trees.  Then a terrible storm came through and took them both down.  One of them was completetely broken.  One was lying on its side, roots pulled out of the ground.  Well, his dad got ropes on the uprooted tree, and ran the ropes up into the apartment, and literally hoisted it upright again.  I don't know how much work they put into long-term stabilizers and getting the roots back into the earth, but by golly, they took, and years later that tree, that everyone but his dad said was beyond saving, was growing strongly in that spot.

No wonder we think we can do anything - sometimes we DO.  And yet - really, what you did or that other guy did is give the tree a chance.  Do footwork, and leave the result up to HP.  Sometimes the result isn't what we hope for - but sometimes it is.

((((Christy))),

I remember when that happened.  After seeing the pictures I didn't think that that poor tree stood a chance of coming back.  How wrong I was.  Pipers would happily volunteer to come and climb it!  What a great lesson in life - never give up.  Add lots of hard work and TLC and you can't help but come back to life. w00t.gif  It's gorgeous!  From one tree hugger to another - well done! clap.gif  Much love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty smile
