The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Since most of us are born with an abundance of natural desires, it isn't strange that we often let these far exceed their intended purpose. When they drive us blindly, or we willfully demand that they supply us with more satisfactions or pleasure than are possible or due us, that is the point at which we depart from the degree of perfection that God wishes for us here on earth. that is the measure of our character defects, or, if you wish, our sins.
This is where long-term hope is born and perspective is gained, both of the nature of my illness and the path of my recovery. The beauty of the program lies in knowing that my life, with God's help, will improve. The journey becomes richer, the understanding becomes truth, the dreams become realities - and today becomes forever.
As I step into the Al-Anon light, my heart fills with the presence of God.
(an adaptation to reflect the consequence of the Al-Anon Family Group journey).
Yes and what a gift it is. Hope that goes on and on and is renewed by the God of our understanding. What a difference it makes to every part of our lives.
Thank you Jerry, you have such an amazing gift to be able to share as you do, with your whole self, heart, mind, body and spirit.
Lifted higher on the consciousness of your sharing of that uncrushable spirit of Long-Term Hope. Suzannah

Jerry, thanks for this post- its great food for thought...I need to mull it over some and I totally agree with java that the sentence she quoted is really the core that works for me today. It DOES give me hope. I think that this concept of Long Term Hope is something that can nourish me in a more sustainable way. hugs, J.
I am always happy to have something to look forward too, and I have already got'n so much from this program already that has really helped me see the "Green Pastures", that I get pretty excited each time I learn something new not only with HP but about myself, that I guess has been hiding in my soul somewere...lol...scary at times but well worth the ride :)
Thanks for your share Jerry... Always glad to see what has your wheels turning:)
