Well, maybe I'm pushing it with the A+, but he does deserve a pat on the back. Since I am practicing anonymity and trying my best not to tell eveyone in my life all our business, I'll share what I have noticed in my A's behavior here, as well as, my response to his new behavior. Here goes:
When I'd get home from work, my A was either missing in action or delioursly washing dishing and mopping and flinging water and soap everywhere. You would think that I would have been happy to have a husband doing housework and so on. But truth is, he was under the influence and what ever he attempted to do didn't matter to me. Especially if it was something such as washing a few dishes when.. let's see...uhhh....the broken fence needing repairing, or the lawn needed mowing, or all the unfinished projects around our home were just piling up and up. So his efforts went unappreciated from me when he was drinking.
Well, today...I get home from work, my A was mowing the grass in the backyard. LOL...and there was 1 dirty soup bowl and 1 spoon in the sink from the grits I made him before I went to work this morning. All I could do is smile and thank HP. I said to myself, "humph....now that he is sober he quit washing dishes. but that's awsome, he is cutting the grass ( and cutting it at 5 pm instead of attempting to do it at noon and blazing heat like would when he was drinking). And I had confidence in him that he would take pride and finish the job. It was a good feeling.
So today, I'll give him and A+. And I have a little hope that he might get to the fence this week. WHOO HOO! ...........but no expectations, so A+ for me too!
I am glad you had a good day.....ODAT is something I am really learning to practice...Take it one day at a time.....yea, mowing grass at 12 noon??? Wooo that is torture, LOL...I use a handyman to do my yard....its just too much work
This reminds me of myself...in that attitude is everything! (my attitude!) I am sure your H is grateful for your positive attitude and praise. Sounds like everybody wins this way!
Good for you for finding the good in his attemps :) It is alway nice to remember "Progress Not Profection", I know I remind myself of that one Daily, and it helps see me thru when I have alot to get done... Glad he is turning over a new leaf...Even if he is back to leaving you some dishes...lol...
Love & Hugs... Thanks for your Share of Happiness... I try to tell my neices and nephews that deal with "A's" as well... "Sometimes the Little things are the most Important" Glad you see that too...
