Last night I found my way back to journaling and found that it felt WONDERFUL to get things out and then to reread and actually be able to "see" things that others see when I write. I got away from it because of time/privacy issues (my son and I share a PC)
Anyway my question is.......I have Microsoft works-Tasklauncher (I'm not a real PC savy person as you may tell). It has a journal program in it which is neat-nothing with bells and whistles-just simple. I am trying to figure out HOW to save my journal entries to a CD WITHOUT saving them on my pc where they are accessible to my son should he click on it.
My goal is to have my journal saved to my CD and NOT have it accessible to anyone without the CD if that makes sense.
Any input as to how I can get there from here would be awesome!
Many thanks shelly
ps-journaling by hand is not an option.

Does your pc have an open USB port? If so, I would recommend getting a flash drive, they have become inexpensive and would hold a LOT of purely text like a journal.
I would use a simple program like Notepad, Notebook or Microsoft word (I am not familiar with tasklauncher). Just open the program write your journal entry then save it to your flash drive with the date of entry, etc. That way you don't ever even save the document on your hard drive.
You could do the same thing with a CD though it is a slightly slower process and then you have to "lug" the cd around. A flash drive holds more data, A 1 or 2 Gig is less than 20 bucks now and would hold years of entries, and fits in your purse or pocket!
That sounds like a great idea for saving your files. I've been journaling on my PC every day since March 18 and my file is getting very big and is taking a lot of time to open (I have it on my desktop). I may look into getting a flash drive too. Thanks!
Get a flash drive.. That is what I use, and they work great, you can plug them in at work, at home, or what every computer you are working on, and they save right to it...
Wonderful they are... And Yes... Even you can do it. You plug it in :)
One word of caution. Flash drives are great, but they are also very small and if, like me, you are prone to loosing things, it may add additional worry. I have saved things on a flash drive and then LOST the flash drive (to my horror!) and worried that whoever found it would be privvy to my innermost thoughts. You can get flash drives that have security features, so the drive can not be opened by anyone but you. These are super expensive ($100.00=200.00), but if you are concerned about privacy, especially if you are journaling, it may be worth the price.
I have mine on a lanyard. so I can hang it around my neck, next to my computer, or in my jewelery box... And if security at home concerns ya, I also have a $40 Firebox, with a lock on it that is great for like things :)
Shelly, I can't help you with the CD thingie, but I have been journaling my thoughts and concerns about my adaughter. I don't have to worry about privacy because it is just me and hubbie here. And he would not have a clue on how to access my journal.
Anyway, the other day, I went back and read my journal from the beginning. Wow!!!! I am glad I am keeping a journal on this horrible journey. Perhaps someday it will be a good book; who knows.
But you have a good idea. I think I will try to copy mine on a CD also.
