Last night turned out to be a pretty good night!

When I got home yesterday from work, my son had his room clean and the dishes in the kitchen cleaned up.  He was sitting on the porch when I pulled in.  He was in a bit of a foul mood though, instantly making demands.  "Mom, give me a bag I can put my karate stuff in."  I asked him what was wrong w/the bag he had.  He said it was full of other stuff he doesn't use.  I told him that was easily taken care of - I give him a box to put it all in and we can put it in the shed.  He then said, "I not trying to take that big bag to class!"  So I went to my room to find him another bag.  As I was pulling out an old backpack, it occured to me that he has a backpack of his own and he can use that.  So I went down and told him to use that.  He said he didn't know where it was.  Long story short on that one....he took it to a friend's house a couple of months ago and never brought it home.  So I told him he wasn't going to use any of my bags b/c I didn't have anything that he could lose.  I told him to empty out his big karate bag and use that.  He was mad but he did it.  On our way to karate he had such an attitude.  I was like, "Ya know, I am going out of my way to take you to class, you could at least show me some respect and appreciation."  He just grumbled something.

Back at home, my daughter and I made dinner together. Grilled chicken, corn on the cob and mashed potatos.  She is such a big helper.  Shucked that corn all by herself!  After dinner, I managed to get in an hour pilates work-out.  She came upstairs and did some of it with me. Then my exAh/bf showed up to get some of his mail.  He was actually in a good mood.  I was surprised considering he is having serious back trouble, worked all day at his 1st job and then for 2 hours at his 2nd job. So he had a nice visit w/our daughter while I finished up my pilates and cleaned up the dinner dishes.

I picked up my son @ 8:30 and he was it a GREAT mood.  Endorfins from exercise I guess.  So his great mood lasted throughout the remainder of the night.  We all went to bed and slept great.  Now if only I could have more nights like that.  He is supposed to go to class again tonight, so we will see how it turns out. :)

Sincerely,
QOD

Will keep my fingers crossed that Today is a "Dito" for ya... Minus the moody child going to class...lol... Just got to love them... With mine, when he acts that way.. It helps me Remember Who is Gets it from... (A Big Fat ME!)... So thank goodness this program has helped me Name it, and now slowly Change it :)

You know... I know you are big on the exercise thing maybe you could come up with something where you and he do something together daily that both of you can enjoy that way you get that bond and he gets that endorphin high instead of from the other stuff. Seems like that might be something that would really benefit your relationship with him if it's possible.

Hey CG....yes that thought has come up before. Of course, he always chooses the MOST INCONVENIENT time to exercise together......like right after I have taken a shower so I can get ready to go somewhere or after I put on my pj's and get into relax mode after a long hard day. It just takes some coordination and work I guess.
