My adventure

This is something I have wanted to do for several years now but would not allow myself the expense. The day after my son got his dui I decided that I was going to give that gift to myself. After all, I would go to the earth's end in the past to help my children out financially. Why wouldn't I do the same for myself. I figured out a way to get the money together and I am going to Albuquerque, NM for a seminar. It is based on the book "Potatoes Not Prozac". It is about healing addiction through nutrition. This doctor has spent many years working with alcoholics and sugar sensitive people and she has a plan that works for healing the brain chemistry. I have so much faith in this program for myself as far as being addicted to sugar. I believe that is were the genetics come in. So, I am pumped. I will be gone for 4 nights. I have never met anyone that is going to be there. I am rooming with another girl that I have never even spoken to. I am flying alone....and get this....I signed up to go up in a hot air balloon on Friday morning with 7 other attendees.

I am really stepping out of my comfort zone on this one but I feel like all of this was in HP's plan to get me to do this for ME!

Good for you! How interesting. I've been hearing about the relationship between sugar and alcohol addiction.

Funny, I too feel I am addicted to sugar. My ex-abf and I would always argue about who needed "changing"...His drinking...my eating. So in January....I gave up sugar. I've dropped 30 lbs! My mom is also a food/sugar addict. It's sad because now I notice the similarities between an alcoholic and a sugar/carb addict. They both have drastic highs and lows...live for their next "fix" and point the finger at all the things everyone else does wrong.

My ex-A  has seen me since my "self-rehab" and is amazed at my will power. He is still drinking...but I feel better about me.

I hope you have a great time and discover even more about yourself!

Good for you....I cut out refined sugar in my life....I take St. John's wort for any depression and even with this latest "test" goin on in my life, I am not as bothered....Certainly not down on me

NO sugar...NO white, refined products...Clean diet...Organic as much as I can......I sweeten w/ honey or molasses or maple sugar.....I feel much better when I cut out the sugar.....and white "man made" products......

Glad you are takin care of you

You will have a blast!!!  And good for you for treating yourself!!!  We tend to take of other people's needs and ignore our own.

Be sure and let us know how the hot air balloon ride goes.  You are braver than I would be!!!!  I would be screaming so loud, they would throw me overboard!!!!

I'm so proud of you. You are taking care of you rather than allowing others life situations and choices to dominate your thoughts and actions.

Bravo!  I look forward to hearing about your adventure. Smart people keep moving forward in new ways to find what works for them. I love that you are trusting your HP to advance your own personel well being.

Have a great time! We have tons of friends who live in Albuquerque and we go there to visit all the time. The scenery is beautiful and you will absolutely LOVE your hot air balloon ride.

Wow!  Good for you, very exciting!  Of course you deserve it, I'm so happy for you.  The seminar sounds interesting & I'm sure it will be fun to meet so many new people.

I got to do a hot air balloon ride once for New Year's.  It was a Christmas gift from my mom.  It was the dead of winter & snow everywhere & the heat from the gases, oh man is it loud & hot!  What an incredible feeling lifting off!!!  It was a blast, enjoy!

Good for you!  I, too, have trouble "taking care of me".  Would give anyone else the shirt off my back.....but not myself.

My ex AH and I always wanted to take balloon ride, they used to land in the field next to our house.

Now, I'm ever so glad I didn't do it with him.....maybe my sweet, loving, non A boyfriend and I can take one together some day!

Let us know how the seminar goes, too!

Love in Recovery,
