Setting small goals for myself.

I have found one key to maintaining a positive attitude is to have several small projects going.  If my life is unmanageable (which it often is) I can measure my progress by how far I am moving on the projects. The more control I have the better.  Of course life itself means things don't necessarily go my way.  I try to count my blessings each day in how far I am moving on those projects rather than how out of control my life is.

Maresie.

I have a perfectly manicured lawn and garden. You can eat off the floor in my house and not a single piece of dirty laundry can be found. I am aware that I "control" all those things in my life, because there are so many things I don't have any control over. I've mastered the home and garden side of life. I need to work on myself and do a things to do in my life. My list looks something like this: work on attitude, have faith, be positive, do not judge, build a relationship with christ, have patience.......and so on!

Thank you for your post Maresie.....I too need a to do list! (this time, it won't include painting any room in my house though)

Sincerely,
Tonya

Thank Marsie for the thoughtful post.

I agree, small manageable goals work well.

I like the reminder that these goals  can involve any part  of my life the  Physical, Emotional or Spiritual.
I thank you all for sharing on this.

Hi Maresie,

Thanks for the post. Yes, small goals are good. Often, I feel so overwhelmed, I do nothing because if I can't do it all and do it perfectly, I don't want to do it at all. A set-up for failure for me. A good reminder that goals can be reached if they are reasonable.

Blessings,
Lou

I too try to set a manageable goal for each day, and I agree, I can take stock of how I'm doing by what I manage to achieve each day.
I am slowly taking back control of My Own Life
Thanks Maresie.

Thanks for the reminder (((((mare))))).  I have a real tendency to make mental to-do lists that include huge end results like "get done with the taxes".  When instead I actually write down "fill in spreadsheet to do taxes" (a much smaller goal), and then CROSS IT OFF THE LIST, and FEEL PROUD OF MYSELF (gotta work on that still!) - I'm that much closer to the big goal, with half the angst.
