Prayers for my community please.

((((Family))),

If you have been watching CNN today, then you know about the shooting at the American Civic Association.  12 people are dead, so is the gunmen and numerous are injured.  I am stunned by this news.  There were problems in the community with gangs coming in and recovery is not easy in this area.  Having said that, I would have never dreamed this would happen.

My niece was attending a special class about 5 blocks away.  When I heard the news I called her to tell her what was going on.  She knew.  She could hear the sirens.  The woman who was suppose to speak had to leave as she had to go to help negotiate with the gunmen.  My niece is safe.

Sadly this is not the kind of national attention this area was hoping for.  We were hoping for the kind of positive attention that are Bearcats brought when they made it to March Madness.  Or when we made the news for being the perogi capital of the world.  We are known for an excellent university.  This is the area where IBN started and EJ Shoes and Dicks Sporting Goods.  We have a nationally recognized opera company wher Placido Domingo once sang.  There are many, many, many good things about this area.

I am heartbroken for the victims and their families.  This is an area I love.  I remember fondly walking those very streets when I was young.  I live about 20 minutes from this area.  I have easily walked home from the hospital.

Please keep the families and victims as well as this community.  We will sadly need it.  As I look to the skies that have been rainy all day, I can see a rainbow.  Perhaps HP is guiding the victims to a better place.  I have to believe that.  It's what I am clinging to know.  Much love and blessings to you all.

(((karilynn)))

I can't understand the disregard for human life.  It seems violence and death has been swirling around lately, not to my family, but just close enough that it hurts.  It's very odd.  In the last couple weeks there has been 5 suicides, 1 shooting.
1 death from cancer, 1 cancer diagnosis and a heart related death.
Last week my Grandaughter's best friends father was shot in the head by two teens attempting to rob him.  He was in the city working on a building that he planned to open a Mom & Pop style store.  He left behind 5 children and his wife is due in May.

I can't buy that things happen for a reason...I think they just happen.

Today when I heard about it, i sighed and said to myself, some people just don't have a HP or are too sick to know HP if he/she was staring them in the face.

Your community is in my prayers!

Karilynn...prayer and meditation 24/7 is part of the recovery program for me.
I flipped off the news this morning as the first three stories they blabbed out
were local and offshore (yes your community) violence.  You are hours ahead
of Hilo and the violence is growing here also.  So I just spent a couple hours
of my afternoon with another Al-Anon member finishing up some body work
on her car and we had a meeting looking at the current condition of life on
life's terms and how the program helps us to live it.  Gratitude and hope was
of course a part of the meeting.  We agreed that what is happening is a
consequence because what we have learned in the program is missing from
other peoples lives.  We agreed that today we understand widely including
we have little power over it other than to reach out to others.  We agreed
that we fear the possible consequences for our families and we agreed that
there is a Higher Power working in our lives in times, ways and people and
places we don't understand about yet.  We agreed that inspite of all of this
"dis-ease" around us we have the pleasure of our spiritual program to lean
on and reasons not to make things worse.

It is in our communities that attraction works wonders also.  Shine the program
and the results of it in your life.  I'm hoping some of the work in the community
causes change.

(((((hugs))))) smile

PS...stay out of trouble!!

This has been a sad for the country.  However, it hits even harder if it is your own town or state.  My heart goes out to all people effected by it.  My prayers are with you and everyone in your community.

After listening to CNN and MSNBC, I got the impression that your town is a sweet lovely place to live in.  I heard the chief of police last night say there was  just one murder in your town last year.  That is one murder is one too many. however that one murder is one too many, no matter how you look at it. I will pray for all the victims; however you are all victims today.

May God give you comfort today in your time of need.
