Gratitude

I was going to call this post 'Sunday Gratitude,' but then I am trying to spend time daily in gatitude, so simply 'gratitude.'

I used to be in the practice of spending a few minutes a day thinking about what I was grateful for that day.  I found that the more I did it, the easier the "attitude of gratitude" was to get in and stay in.  Gradually I became "too busy" to spend that time, and began to focus instead on the things that were wrong.  I feel that as part of working my program, and my recommitment to Alanon, I need to look at those things I am grateful for.

Today I am grateful for:

  • Sunday morning Jazz
  • That I get to be a full time student, even though I have been spending more time in overwhelm around it lately
  • The fact that my husband decided on his own that he needed to go to treatment...and went
  • That while he is gone, I have this time of peace and calm to focus solely on my own well being
  • That I have come back to these boards and the f2f rooms of Alanon and other 12 step programs and am renewing my commitment to myself
  • A misty, rainy Spring Sunday morning
  • That, for this moment, I am at peace with the world and with myself

Thanks T!  You know I was just going to come on here and rant and rave about my home group- I just really love them!  I am so grateful that I have found a great home group after moving from so far away and that while its not like my old group- its wonderful in a different way!

After my home group here, a group of women have started a 4th step womens group that meets every other week- I just started that and its so cool.  Wow, its like a double dose of love and ESH on Sundays from 9-12noon!

Al-anon is everywhere.  In so many different forms!

MIP is awesome and has really helped me in my recovery but please if you are not going to face to face meetings, that is really where the pot of gold is!!!!! : )

Hugs, J.

I just got back from visiting my hubby in rehab. He has been there almost 3 weeks and will get out on April 9, at the end of the 3 day family program which I will go and participate in. I am so grateful that every week he is clearer and stronger.

Today we talked at length about balance as a tool for relapse prevention - finding that balance between recovery, work, family, health. It makes me sing to hear him coming to these realizations-with some serious intervention from his higher power- so glad he is listening!
