Recovery is a beautiful thing! I am new here, but I have been in counseling a long time. My alcoholic hubby has been in and out of AA for over 20 years. He is back in right now. So, maybe, since we know the disease of A is progressive, when he goes back to AA he picks back up in the recovery process quickly and maybe me, too. We laugh and rejoice in little things -- like the thing that just happened. We were just sitting here talking and watching tv when hubby dropped his soda can on the floor as he was setting it down on the table. I freeze in anticipation of what will happen next. Pause for both of us... next thing that happens is A hubby gets up to clean it up, I breathe. Then he says, "Did you notice how I am growing? I didn't scream at you 'I need a little help here' " I said, " Yea, thanks, and I resisted the urge to jump up to save you." We were both so thrilled. Funny how little things are so special! Grateful for the program, db55
COOL! Admirable! I never knew that myself (in my relationship w/exAH) but I love to see it in others- very inspiring and a great example for me. Thanks for writing. Hugs, J.
