Son had court this morning for probation violation. Case could have been dismissed in 6 mos if he had kept his nose clean. The probation officer called me to let me know that son would not be coming home because they sent him to a Jump Start program. Then they are sending him to 3/4 housing. They even found funding for it!
They told me that he wanted to just go to jail, but his probation officer did not want him to take the easy way out by just serving time. She felt that he was worth saving and that it's not too late for him. She wants him engaged/exposed to the recovery process as much as possible.
Tis the time to express some gratitude to your HP and the non-enabling probation officer he has and then just stand back and let the process happen. Evidently his PO has some experience in what works and doesn't and still I bet she knows there are no guarantees. That there are no guarantees is a very humble and important lesson.
We've seen recovery work very well for others and pray that it works for us also.
Well, it sounds like someone has decided that enough is enough and that he will at least be subjected to the exposure of correction through good quality support and care.
Sounds like some answered prayer too. You have the space to let go and let God, and he has the space but not the freedom to just sit back and feel sorry for himself, but to take up the reigns and run with changing his life style and habits.
I pray he will go with it, and begin the recovery programme right this minute.

Yep sounds like the HP needs some kudo's... I wish that same thing would happen for my brother, however they have slap'd his fingers so many times, that they don't scare him, He has been to jail more times then not, and it is sad, but I am getting better thanks to al-anon, I am learning how to let go and let God... So Will keep you in my prayers that the program helps him see the light...
