The holidays were very low key and pleasant for us. Youngest AD had arthroscopy on her right knee on the 30th of December, and they ended up doing extensive shaving in there, so on New Year's Eve, she was home with me, leg propped up with an ice pack, not her ideal holiday, but it was nice. She had a week off of work, and actually enjoyed spending more time with me!
She has finally decided to take the practice tests for her GED and is going to coordinate it with the day I go over to the college campus to get my books for spring semester. It's amazing what things transpire when I stay out of the way and focus on my own recovery.
In addition to being so ill with a gastrointestinal bug recently that landed me in ER, it appears that all that wretching started a tear in the abdominal wall where I had the stomach surgery three years ago, and now I have a large hernia that needs to be repaired ASAP. I have an appt with the surgeon tomorrow morning and I am hoping it is repaired before the weekend.
My college classes start the 17th, and I am looking forward to another challenging semester, and another step closer to completing my degree!

Good to hear you, missed you. Sorry the news is not all good, however you shine through as a positive inspiration of working your programme
As for the hernia, I so understand, have had three repairs todate, so I am praying that the surgery is quick in coming through. Take it easy and rest when you can. Study by putting your feet up when you are reading and setting up a table close by with pen, paper or computer nearby to take your notes. Take lots of "T' breaks and light refreshment and laugh, those endorphines are so good for recovery and repair.
Lots of love, Suzannah

Thank goodness, I have surgery tomorrow morning at 8 am. I got all my pre-op work done today. I should be home by tomorrow afternoon. Youngest AD will be taking me to the hospital and staying with me.
I'm glad they got me in so soon to see the surgeon as he said he felt about a 3" separation in the muscle, so the sooner the repair, the better.
The nurse who did my EKG this morning was so very nice, and we got to talking about my college classes, and somehow we got onto the subject of the rehab center that used to be at the hospital. It turns out she gave some lectures at that rehab after I had already gone through there in 1986, and I told her it sure was a small world!
