I'm searching for books on boundaries and detachment. I have the ones from Melodie Beattie and one from Pia Mellody. Is there any other suggestions? I like basic and simple. After all it takes me a while to catch onto things!!!! I've been working on detachment - it's a good thing. I'm amazed that now I can look at a situation and realize I don't have to be involved in it - I don't have to worry, or try to fix it. It's not my problem!!! Now I would like to add working on boundaries - I really need them because I do way too much for people and they should be doing things themselves. And I'm not helping them by doing this. And I'm learning that listening to myself and my body is a good thing.
Don't forget the pamphlet on Detachment--it is very good! I have trouble with boundaries. too. I am still activally working on boundaries with my mother! She used to be so clinging but I set a boundary or two & now she hardly ever comes over. We actually see a lot less of each other & go out much less often. Unforunately, it is Christmas time and now I want her around a little more--she is invited for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. It will be just the three of us--my husband, myself & my mom. Almost all the rest of my family live miles away--actually they all live very far away! I hope you are able to find more info on what you are looking for. I would stick to as much Alanon liturature as the program really stresses them. I am not sure what this site feels about this subject. In the meantime, read on! Kathleen
