The hunting trip (Dad and son)

forgot to tell ya'll ...

The hunting trip was everything I had hoped it to be for my son and his Dad. Lots of talking and walking in the woods together. A lot of male bonding with with extended family members.

But the VERY BEST thing was that out of the 9 guys that had been been going to the cabin for the past 25-30 yrs...(lol, this is great)
My son, TJ, was the only one to shoot a buck (or anything else)!!! He dropped him immediately with 1 shot to the heart. The newbie!! Ha!

Dad and TJ both walked around with their chests puffed out for about 2 weeks. My son is now dubbed "The deer slayer" by the men at camp. There was lots of "atta boys" and a few "un friggin believables", considering TJ had only ever shot a BB gun.

As the story goes...
Dad and Uncle had gone in to town for some supplies. Bryce, (son's cousin) and TJ went hunting. Dad came back and was freaking out a bit because in his words "I'm finally allowed responsibility for my son and he is loose in the woods with a shotgun". His brother told me he was nervous, pacing and looking out the window.
I found this pretty funny actually because it's true. I had not allowed him to take my son anywhere (alone) while he was active. This was the first time since he has been sober that he was responsible for TJ's welfare... On forty snow covered acres with gun...lol I guess it's pretty easy to get lost too.

Anyway, after a few tense hours, here comes Bryce and TJ dragging a buck out of the woods. TJ had to do what they do with the buck, with instruction from the guys. He said he only gagged once or twice..lol
(and admitted to me he felt bad for the deer).

All in all it couldn't have turned out better. They both made a great memory.

(((((Christy))))),

Great story!  Hurray for the mighty hunter.  w00t.gif Unfortunately the picture didn't come over.  Can you resend it to me? Just my computer gremlins acting up again. confuse  I think it's awesome how far your entire family has come in their recoveries.  You go girl.  Much love and blessings to you and your family.  Enjoy the venison.  Yum!

Live strong,
Karilynn & Piper Claus biggrin

Maria is speechless.

Especially this time of year, so many miracles happening every day.  My beautiful friend (((((((((Christy)))))))))) Wow, what a blessing.  I've been with you on your journey and your hubby's success is a testament to recovery and the gifts that abound as a result.  And you my dear have grown sooooo much, it's truly amazing.  I feel blessed to have watched you and your family prevail.

much love,
Maria

P.S.  I think I'll pass on the dinner invite though. Suffice it to say I've got "Bambi" issues wink.gifwink.gif

((((karilynn))))
I sent them via email.  If they don't work let me know, we'll try something different.

(((((my Maria..)))))
I have Bambi issues too!  no  Ugh!! Thank goodness TJ gave the venison to his Uncle Bobby, who lives in MI. Somehow the thought of airfare for a dead carcass wasn't appealing..lol
I guess eventually we are getting it's fur and antlers though...should look lovely in my dining room with the Asian decor.  NOT!!
