am I being reeled in?

As some of you know, my step mom A has been diagnosed as being terminally ill with a brain tumour. Tonight my father, an A, rang and said she is deteriorating and he needs to sort things out, legal, etc. I offered to look on her from 2 tomorrow while he does this. He started talking about power of attorney etc, I listened politely but its not my bag. When my children were small, my father was very good to me and did watch the children for me, so I feel I am returning this and this is the feeling in my heart. He had not deteriorated to the A he is now who loves and adores his whisky. I have no bitterness towards her either but am hoping she stays asleep as I need to get some work done. Sorry if I sound selfish, these people burned me in the past.

My  mother died about 7 years ago unexpectedly.  I had really strong boundaries in there.  I did not offer very much. My family felt I was very selfish.

Now after doing years of family of origin work in therapy I think I gave too much all the time.

I used to feel guilty about feeling angry at them now I do not.

I think its phenomenal you are setting limits.

good for you.

Maresie.
