Gratitude leads to humility...so I am told...

...if that is the case then I need to make sure that my humility is true humility and not false humility.

Being in control of my attitude means, for me at least, knowing what is in my mind and in my heart.

My behaviour is what reveals my attitude for it shows what is in my mind and in my heart.  That being the case, then my behaviour will show whether my humility is true or false.

However, I am also remembering that we feel as a result of the way we think, and we think as a result of the way we have learned.

If my learning is wrong, then my thinking may not always be right and if my thinking is not always right then it is no wonder that what I am feeling may not always be the truth of the matter either.

Gee, no wonder it is so hard to get it right all of the time.

For me, gratitude leads me to awaken to all the abundance in my life.

Pertaining to thoughts, I have learned the following:  1)  most people are not aware of their self-talk and most of it is negative.  2)  relearning / reprograming to think differently is possible  3) change your thought and you change your life   smile

You're a deep thinker Suzannah.  I appreciate your posts.

Take Care, Stormie (Gail)

Well I try to keep it simple and detach and then detach and then detach some more.

I love this, Suzannah. We can change our thinking and changing our thinking changes how we feel.

Living one day at a time and accepting reality, helps us change our thinking. Accepting Aism as a disease, helps change our thinking. Looking at and accepting our own good points as well as our defects helps to change our thinking. All of these things and many more help change how we feel about ourselves and the world around us.

Thank you for posting this topic today.

In recovery,

I've heard another al anon suggest that it is Behavior, Attitude, Resentment and Fear. If I'm examining those I can get somewhere.  Its all action for me these days. If I'm not in action I'm in trouble.

Aloha Suzannah!!

That is what we call doing the deep part...the coming to knowing and a deeper
understanding.  Seems like someone bigger than yourself is feeding your
awareness.  For me you have to be special and in a special place to have that
happen.    For me you got it with Behavior (the walking the talk) reveals true
or absense of humility.    I use to hear that when a person changes their
thinking they can then change their behavior yet for me and from my
experience both growing up in recovery and from counseling the addicted...
change the behavior and the mind will follow.  The proof is in the pudding
not the recipe.

Good post...good searching and fearless work.

(((((hugs))))) smile
