Refusing to rescue

Thanks Jean4444  for your post the other day, it made me think. I will alway rescue animals but have pulled out of two situations in the last 24 hours that I would not have done so had I not read and absorbed the post.
The first was when dealing with someone who did not realise my business worth and was minimising my work. I pulled out, wished him luck genuinely and moved on,
The second has been when dealing with a personal favour that I gave freely but I have professionalised same and made it clear though a favour, it is not without value, this was done without matryrdom, yes I'm pleased with myself.
Because I associated all my rescue work with A's it never dawned on me that actually I'm pretty darn good at rescuing non A's without any solicitation also, therefore I need to keep the focus on me. Thanks all for your inspiring and thought provoking posts,

I know when i value my worth I stop rescuing.  I recently left a job where the person I worked for demanded rescue all the time but didn't value it.  I have to say its hard because I know dysfunctional. I can stay in dysfunctional.  I know there are no guarantee's in the world but I know how to be around the dysfunctional. Being out in the world and looking to be valued is something else.

I am learning to place all of my innate desire to help others, onto learning to help & rescue myself which is new to me. I come from a long line of codie's...  ppl that would prefer to clean someone else's garden. I guess we all think it's too painful to tend to our own messes but honestly, it is so much easier & more rewarding. I certainly appreciate my own hard work, I don't take myself for granted & my self-esteem goes up when I do things for myself.

thanks for your post! Hope you keep realizing your own value, odat. We have so much to offer! I find just like you did, that even non-A's can still lie, take us for granted, let us down, it definitely happens everywhere. I love seeing how the Program relates in other areas of my life.

Kudos to you! a friend in recovery, -kitty
