Having the urge to shake it up

I am starting to get itchy feet again, I am having thoughts of moving to where I don't know for sure (Diva???).  I have been irritated with changes at my job that make it more difficult, I am frustrated with working two jobs and most of all I am FED UP with the schools here.  I have accumulated too much stuff again and am ready to get rid of it all and start over again.  I'm looking, shopping around for places and jobs and rentals.  I'm free now, divorced, I could probably survive a few months on the money I could get together.  I'll keep ya posted.

Take your time and don't get in to big a hurry. We in al-anon say wait 6 months before making big changes in your life, but of course that's when you first come in. I think it applies to most decisions though. Those made in haste we often regret, those that we've had time to think through we're usually the happiest with. A list of postivites and negatives about where you live would be a good place to start. I see you've listed some negatives, the job situation and the schools. Think of some positive points and weigh them out. It might just be time for a change!

I can understand wanting to make a clean slate of it.  I also understand that I don't generally tend to weigh my decisions carefully. I get fed up then am impulsive.  If there are choices that's a great thing but generally I don't see too many choices. So a huge part of my recovery is looking at choices. I felt the A was the only choice for 7 years that is how far gone I was.

hi, are you still exercising and changing your nutrition?

I ask becuz if you have lost weight, or even just feel better, sometimes, along with being free, will trigger what you feel.

You have been unhappy and swallowing uno for a long time. Now your life is healthier, out of the pit and wanting to grab what you have been stifled of.

You have shared you moved there for the ex right?

Never have seemed to be happy there,no wonder you want to move on, your growth is wonderful!!
Just don't leave us!!!!!

Aloha CG!!

I read your post as if I were reading the intro to a "Geographical"; trying to
make change happen by changing the scenery and location.  What I learned
during the recovery process and continue to build on is that I play a part in
the consequences of my life.  If there are things going on in my life that are
causing me problems and I run to somewhere else, I take them with me and
can only repeat them elsewhere until I change for the better.  It is better
to take the changed me to any other location and be of use to myself and
others than take the old me the one that has caused me problems.

I got a bit delusional in early program in thinking that because some areas
in my life changed as a result of other peoples' choices and events I was
better for it.  Only a bit...When I found out that I was the major decision
maker in my life and I was suffering because of my reactive decisions I had
to change that first and foremost or I didn't have a snowballs chance in
hell where every I was.

Just some ESH...(((((hugs))))) smile.gif

(((((CG))))),

Like Serendipity I'm in Central NY too.  Great state, except the taxes will kill you.  NY is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.  Now the economy is not so hot in my area.  Thank goodness for the university and some big contracts with the military.  There are lots of homes in my area for sale.  We'd welcome you. I'm sure Pipers would be happy to keep the mice, moles and whatever else you don't like out of your garden.  Come on up!  Nothing ventured nothing gained.  Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty biggrin

Jerry's post had me recalling a f2f meeting I went to awhile back....
Somebody shared how they were planning a move to another state....then, she said,

"Problem is, I'm coming with me."

I need to remember this as I consider moving back to my home state....

But, I'm with ya (((CG))).... A change would be nice. And, poor schools would be a big motivator for me to do it.

Ya, the schools are the big one. I think the job issues will pass it's just a rough time right now with the local paper investigating every penny spent. The screws are on... This is a this too shall pass situation at work but still I'm working 2 jobs and would love to consolidate into one. I have been looking at the pros and cons and the main reason I stay here is the weather and the beach.

Funny but I think New York is the one place the kids wouldn't complain about moving. LOL

Cons, I do have a good friend here and my daughter has friends at school (not that it matters if she keeps doing so poorly). I have pipe dreams about quitting my job and going back to school to do something besides social work - I feel like I have taken a vow of poverty. I'm still pondering. I was trying to find "Boulder at the beach" I'm sure it's in California somewhere like San Diego and I can't afford it - specially on a paltry social worker salary!
