(Off topic) Earth Hour

Have you ever wondered what one person can do?  Here's your answer.

http://www. earthhour. org

On 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. This massive collective effort reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement.

Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming. This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world.

As a result, at
8pm (your local time) on March 29th
, millions of people in some of the worlds major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.

Christy

That's cool Christy! At 8pm tomarrow night I will be in the middle of my alanon meeting. We usually do a candlelight service on the meeting before Christmas Eve. If I get it together enough before tomarrow night, maybe I will gather up my candles and present it to the group! We are a pretty earth friendly group to begin with!

Christy, sent this into my church administrator and the green eco group and hoping that they will take it up, and I will be getting as many friends together to do the same too.

Great idea, wish I had known earlier as I would have got it into our local press too. Never mind, will see if I can recruit our local MP as he is earth friendly to get something moving in parliament and/or local level.

Thank you for the share. Great great action

(((((((((((Christy)))))))))),

What a great idea!  This allows me to crawl into bed early! sleep.gif  Hubby and I have recently started using the new lightbulbs.  We found a great deal at one of those warehouses.  We have seen a drop in our electric bill.  I don't drive and when people ask me why or give me a funny look, my reply has always been "I'm doing my part for the environment."  Besides it's good for my heart.gif .

Now to all of you who are planning on doing the 9pm meeting here, take that hour and do something nice for yourself.  Enjoy the serenity.  Then get your you-know-what's back here for the meeting!  People will be surprised at how doing the smallest thing can make such a huge difference.  Much love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty lightbulb.gif
