Live and let live

My one remaining cat Ruby is really having a hard time mourning her companion, Benny's passing. She cries a lot and goes into a panic when the dogs are out in the yard. Lately she's been wandering round the yard. I think she is looking for Benny.

Thank goodness I am at place in my program where I can give her some space. I am going to get her a heated pad. She loves the heat.  I am also going to just take a back seat on going places for a while. She needs me to get through her grief.  Pretty soon she will settle down and be ok with being on her own.

I am so grateful I can have space around this rather than beat myself up for not being perfect. I had no space in my life before in emergency mode. I keep surrendering to I am on survival and hat helps. Acceptance really helps to stop bombarding myself with demands I do better when I have very little energy and resources.

I hope this can drip down to my pets because they had as hard a year as I did last year dealing with the A's total meltdown.

Poor poor Ruby, they feel the loss of their companion as much as we do. She is going through her own time of mourning and a heat pad sounds wonderful for her. I hope you can find a blanket to wrap it in for her too.

Will she let you cuddle her? Grieve together and comfort one another. Help her to feel that she can purr again, and I hope that you too will soon feel like singing a joyful song.

TLC coming Ruby's way and to you too.

Thank you so much. I am so glad I am in a different space now less reactive. Life is very hard for me and the pets but much less hard than it was with the A around.  He made it unmitigated hell.

Ruby will adjust and so will you. Don't let anyone tell you animals don't grieve, because they do. I used to be a veterinary lab tech, so I know what I'm talking about. You know your cat best, give her extra love or give her space, what ever she needs and the two of you will get through this.

love and hugs,
