Can someone please tell me what HALT means, apart from the dictionary definition of: to stop?
I come across some of these acronymns and although I have heard this I cannot for the life of me remember what it stands for. It is another of those senior moments that I keep on getting of late.
Are there any more that would be helpful to know? Thank you.
HeartB

Yes, I'll be glad to share that information with you. It's referenced on page 21, Jan. 21st Courage To Change book. Meaning Listen and learn from my body, soul and HP. Try to check on a regular basis...Am I hungry , Angry, Lonely or Tired. When I realize I'm a bit on tilt, usually one of those is what's going on with me. It's important to eat properly, get the proper amount of rest etc.
You can locate the slogans in the back of C2C book among others.
I spent 5 hours in the emergency room Friday night/Saturday morning with a family member who was ill. I had NO IDEA I would be there that long (until 2:30 am!). When I got home, I was weepy and feeling sad and "out of sorts" and.... missing the A. I remembered HALT and I realized what my problem was.......duh....I had at least three of the four. I was Hungry, Angry (at the hospital staff for the wait), maybe a little Lonely (sitting by myself in that waiting room), and most definitely Tired!! After a good night's rest and some nutrition - things seemed a little more "manageable".
If you are too Hungry, too Angry, too Lonely, too Tired you might well be too weak to maintain your peace of mind and serenity without correcting the situation. These symptoms can will add to a negative consequence if and when a crises arises.
yeah and for us gals another one might be: where are we in our cycle?! Man, I am pretty worthless 3 days before my period and around 3 days after. I put it in my calendar and make sure not to pick any fights, have any important discussions, any special events (if I can help it), etc. And if I do, I need to leave myself plenty of room to be completely unreasonable because often I am, without being aware of it until I look in my calendar and sure enough- bingo.
Thank you everyone for your responses. Those were great. I especially liked F E A R...it took the fear out of fear! And I had to laugh at K I S S! SILLY ME!
