years ago when i first came to alanon this prayer was in the beginers packet i was given.

Lord, 
make  me an instrument of your peace,
where there is hatred, let me sow love:
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith
where there is depspair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness; joy;

Oh Divine Master,
grant that i may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

for it is in the giving that we recieve;
it is in the pardoning that we are pardoned;
and,
it is in the dying that we are born to eternal life.

i find it so easy to rationalize my feelings of hatred, injury, doubt,despair, darkness and sadness even with the help of the alanon program.

Just for today........
Lord,
make me an instrument of your peace.
