As most of you know I lost my mom last year and I just wanted to share with you the following....(Art is Dad, Helen is Mom)
50 years ago this year, Art and Helen started looking for a house. Art wanted to get Helen and thier three children (I wasn't even thought of yet LOL) settled into a home before he deployed for the Korean Conflict. Art drove Helen west he came to a stop at the intersection and Helen saw the house on the corner, it was a salmon color, it had 3 panes of glass in the front of the house, in the center window was a colonial styled floor lamp, it was getting dark and the lamp was on....Helen said..."Oh Art, that house is so cute" Art said "Helen that's your house!" Helen made it our home.
Last year on the 25th of September I removed the last item from that house that became our home. The floor lamp. I cried when I left.
This year, on the 25th of September, a young special operations soldier signed the paperwork and bought the house. He and his girlfriend and 1 week old baby will make it thier home. He is being deployed in February 2008 to serve his country.
How ironic it is, the similar stories.....a military family's love is deep and true. The memories that will be made in that house, the baby crawling and walking for the first time, the dinners to be cooked in the kitchen, friends visiting, the holidays, the birthdays, some tears and hopefully the laughter that we had as a family, this new family will also have. Hugs
I have tears in my eyes as I read that. I'm sure Mom & Dad are looking down smiling. I hope they have a long and happy life together as your Mom & Dad did. Love and blessings to you and your family.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
