I'm really excited to see the post about lyrics. They have had a very profound impact on me this week. I'm making a trip to see a dear close friend from HS. Not really sure if I should be making this trip. Especially after some roadblocks put in the way. I seriously questioned my will vs thy will, as did the person i was visiting.
I'm listening to a new age intrumental cd, hoping for some solitude and some thought while making the drive. I get about 1/2 way and decide I"m going to put some music on. I like college radio for it's diversity. First song one that I've never heard before, Ziggy Marley: Be True to Yourself. Program bells are going off and I'm starting think "I'm right where I'm supposed to be." It also told me that it might be time to do the next right thing.
life has come a long way since yesterday I say
and its not the same old thing over again I say
just do what you feel and don't you fool yourself I say
cause I can't make you happy unless I am I say I say
I got to be true to myself got to be true to myself
day in day out I've asked many questions I say
only to find the truth it never changes I say
if you don't deal with it it keeps killing you a little by little I say
call me selfish if you will my life I alone can live I say I say
I got to be true to myself got to be true to myself
I don't care if it hurts I'm tired of lies and all these games
I've reached a point in life no longer can I be this way
don't come crying to me I too have shed my share of tears
I'm moving on yes I'm grooving on well I'm finally free
I've
got to be true to myself got to be true to myself
got to be true to myself got to be true to myself
This being college radio the play list is a little Eclectic, the next song, new by Lyle Lovett, "Up in Indiana" first line is "up in indiana where the tall corn grows, doing a little thinking about <fill in name of person visiting> oh...and I had to drive past a large portion of corn fields on the way. LOL
I go home looking for the lyrics for the True to Myself and stumble upon another Ziggy tune. "Love is My Religion" it reminded me about the love and peace of the program. Love is my religion, Love is my religion, Love is my religion I'll take you to the temple tonight
All my days I've been searching, to find out what this life is worth through the books and bibles of time I've made up my mind I don't condemn, I don't convert, this is a calling have you heard bring all the lovers to the fold, cause no one is gonna lose their soul
Which then made me thinking. Bob Marley had some pretty spritual stuff do even if he was a user of marijuana. Three Little Birds:
"Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right. Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
Rise up this mornin', Smiled with the risin' sun, Three little birds Pitch by my doorstep Singin' sweet songs Of melodies pure and true,
Bobump....banging into the wall over and over again is insanity....unless maybe your doing it with me to a regae beat this week.
