I have no experience in this area so am hoping someone can give me some information. A friend of mine's husband was recently given 120 days shock time in a state facility.
She is on disability and makes less than $400 per month. When she went to apply for low income housing she was told that because she is married they would not approve her for any HUD housing until after her husband had been released three years.
Where do people like this go to find assistance? He is 65 and in poor health so his ability to work is limited once he gets released.
Any information anyone can provide or tips and hints will be appreciated. Thanks

there are organizations like the Center for Independent living that have housing referrals. Getting any kind of low income housing requires immense persistence but I think it is feasible to try.
There are also places like Catholic Charities or orgainizations from other religious organizations. Most of the work can be done on the phone. They also make referrals.
