An extra special Pipers Kitty Day

Tomorrow is my beloved Pipers Kitty 4th birthday.  It is also my 3rd anniversary with hubby. 

When I think back where we were a year ago, I am stunned by the changes in me and in my life.  I was incredibly unhappy and sad because he was still drinking and I thought it would never end.  Thank goodness my Piper was there for me to hold and cry.  She would lick my tears.  I knew I had some tough decisions facing me, and between her and your my MIP family I was able to make them.  When I finally told A to leave in May it was you that helped me and supported me.  It was my Pipers that snuggled close to me on his side of the bed. 

She also helped her Dad when he was scared too.  There were times when I know he drank a bit less because she would stay close.  Never underestimate what the love of an animal can do for oneself. 

Fast foward a year, and he is still sober (thank HP) and Pipers is still being Pipers.  She has not gotten locked in a garage since Christmas Eve.  She still jumps up her ledge for treats.  Spring is here and she in anxiously awaiting mousing season.  She is of great comfort to her Dad when he is feeling under the weather.  Her new thing with me is to play "Dentist".  She lays on my chest in the morning with one paw posed by my mouth waiting for me to open it! At least when I do, she doesn't stick her paw in.  She's also a great helper to Dad when he's playing tool man.  Loves to snuggle in his arm and look at all his tools with him.  She also loves the smell of his cigars.  Only animal I know who puts her nose on the end of his cigar. She quickly figured out which end was which. biggrin

I am truly a blessed woman. I have the love of my husband, my kitty and my MIP family. I also have self love, which wasn't always there.  Through this program, my faith (which sometimes wained) and my family far and wide, I am much happier and stronger than I was a year ago. I try and count my blessings everyday.  When I doubt what I have, I turn here.  I look at my handsome man.  I snuggle close to Pipers Kitty.  Then I know all will be right in time.  I am right where I am suppose to be.

Love and blessings are a funny thing... you have to give them to get them. Guess you and your Pipers Kitty will grow tired of getting it back.

Congratulations for all your aniverseries and for all to come.

Karilynn,

Thanks for sharing your joy. The program must work because you are able to be joyful. I forget how hard it is for the A's to stay sober. Spot says happy birthday Piper Kitty. Spot says when I turned 1 years old in Feb my mommy made me a chocolate cake.

Congrats to you and Hubby on your anniversary.  Although you may not know it, we share quite a bit in common.
