She had been ill with Canine Cushing's Disease for about a year. She also had bladder cancer and arthritis. But she was not suffering, and she was happy. Just about 30 minutes ago, she lost the use of all four of her little legs, and the vet believes she had a stroke. God I am so sad. She has been my faithful friend for so very long. I will miss her smiling face and her gentle demeanor. She was, truly, my best friend.
Fly away dearest one. I'll see you again when the time is right.

OOOh, Diva, I am so very sorry. I'm sure she was very blessed having you in her life. It is so very hard to let go of our pets. My little cats are my best friends, one is 13 and the other is 12. I try to prepare myself for the inevitable, but I know when the time comes, I will be heartbroken. (((Diva Pup))))) Love in Recovery, Becky1
Dear Family,I just wanted to let you know that I made it homeThe journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too longEverything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and newI wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it tooPlease try not to be sad for me. Try to understandGod is taking care of me...I'm in the shelter of his handsHere there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no painHere there is no crying and I'll never hurt againHere it is so peaceful when all the angels singI really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings.--Unknown

From our family to yours we offer our sympathy on the passing of your beloved girl. May she rest in peace. I like to think of her up there with all my beloved pets. I am sure my Muskie is showing her the ropes. She was a lucky girl to have you as a Mom. We send our prayers and love to you all.
Much love and blessings to you and your family.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Yeah, it's sappy, but I like it - I got this from the Pet Loss Grief Support Website.
oh my dear sister, I am so sad for you. WE need our animal family so much.
NO ONE can take her place diva but I tell ya, when someone stole my dear Basset Fergus, I was a mess. A breeder called me and gave me a Basset pup, Tavish, means Beloved. He is the bandaid on my heart two and a half years later.
I was not going to get him, but was never sorry. If you can or want to, you may want to go visit some puppies and hold one against you to help you heal. It is a tribute to how much you love your one who passed.
hugs hon, debilyn who is going to bed to cuddle with tav and sauvy the Great Pyr
I was so sad to read this. I know how it feels.....my beloved Golden retriever and I had 18 wonderful years together and I thought the world had stopped when he left.
I still have his photo by my bedside and talk to him every day.he was my best friend.
He left a great legacy. My kids also still have a picture of him hanging on their walls in their homes and my son and his lovely wife had their first baby last August and named him Ben.........after this wonderful, beautiful bear of a dog.
(((())) Diva. Your angel can now run around again like a puppy and will always watch over you. How blessed to have you as a Mum for 14 years. Luv Leo xxx
Dear Diva, You remind me of my favorite part of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera. Theresa is in the middle of angst with her difficult husband, and she tells the audience her love for her dog is the purest. Her dog taught her how to love, that she doesn’t expect him to be anything more than a dog, etc. I love that, and I always thought the same about my own lovely Schnauzer. I want to be like that with humans, and I’m getting closer year by year. I send you comfort, and I hope your memories of your dog will be all good. Jill
Having to give my pets up when we separated was harder than giving up on my wife. I am so sorry for your loss. 19 yrs old? wow... that is an extraordinary life for a pup.
brightest blessings, always cj

I'm so sorry. It's such a hard loss. Especially when we are so used to having them in our lives every minute. I'm sure you recall I just lost my Gracie a couple months ago. I have yet to move her bed. It's like if I do she will be gone forever. I just can't do it yet.
Again..so sorry my friend

Thanks, all of you, for your kind and caring responses. As any of you know who have ever lost a beloved pet, it is hard, and brings tears to your eyes over and over again. I feel most sorry for my little Jack Russell, Rusty. Baby was with him every day of his life from the time he was a tiny puppy; he's 11 now. He has lost his mother, and his grief is so sad to behold. He's all alone now, but we are trying to keep him mentally and physically occupied until he gets over the worst of it.
Feeling sad and overwhelmed with love for this great little lady who is gone now, but will forever be in our hearts,
Diva
