Going to f2f because of this board...

I wanted to thank you all for sharing so openly your ESH on this board.
I had been to f2f meetings...then stopped...
I've been visiting here lately the past few weeks and your posts have encouraged me to go to a f2f meeting tonight.
Mostly because I have re-learned that there is Hope for me yet for a life of happiness and a peaceful heart.
I appreciate being able to come here and have reaffirmed that I am not alone in the struggles I face.
Nor do I have to sit and stew and dwell and suffocate myself with them!!

Thanks!
Blessings to all,
Rora

Good for you Rora!

I've just found the board recently, and haven't been to a meeting for a while.

You've gave me something to think about.

Thanks,
Barbs.

I am so proud of you!  I am very grateful that you shared this on the board too.  I have seen sooo many newcomers lately on here and that is very wonderful.  They have so many things going through their head right now it is unreal.  No idea where to start or the strength.  That is, if any of them are like I was coming in.
Meetings, meetings, meetings, sponsor, sponsor, sponsor, work the steps, work the steps, work the steps.....GET HONEST!  COME TO LIVE!!!!

I am LIVING for the first time in my life....I have to work at it daily to do it....but, I am no longer co-exsisting!

Good for you! You are on the way to recovery , peace, and serenity. Something we all wish for. I for one was the strong one, could fix everything and everyone! HUH. I was so busy focussing on everyone else that I lost myself along the way. This program is about me, myself and I. At first it always seems bizarre, or confusing, because no one tells you what to do! I went to find out "how to get my husband to quit drinking", and was quite perturbed that no one told me what to do......but I kept going back, because I felt better each time I left. It is a program where all walks of life come because we have a common bond , we are affected by anothers drinking. As you continue to go you will find so many similarities of others that almost seems eerie that they too have or are going through what you may be experiencing. And bottom line is it works,,how and why ,,is the mystery to me, but I can reassure you , that if someone pigheaded/stubborn old goat like me can start to heal with the help of total strangers,,,,anyone can. The healing begins by sharing what is going on with YOU , and not with the A. In a sense removing it from our thoughts and mind into verbal sharing where people nod, and understand you, is priceless. To reassure you that you are not alone, crazy, or weird because the way you have reacted to the alcoholism of another is such a relief. Glad you are going and remember those who are in those rooms were all new at one point or another. Be patient with yourself , dont expect to learn everything at once,,this is a program where you work at your pace. Take what you like and leave the rest.

Good for you!

You deserve it.  I'm glad you have the wisdom to realize that this board in no way replaces a f2f meeting.  Now go find your miracles!
