Blessed to be an Al-Anon

Hi all,

Today God and I had a nice conversation.  For the past few months with everything going on around me I have had lots of doubts about my choices.  My daughter, 18, (grandaughter I raised) had left home in Dec. and another grandaughter, 14 had wanted to live here with us and I said yes after looking at all sides of the situation and praying about it.

I will say though there have been many times I have "argued" with God and told Him, I am almost 58 ..... I'm tired of raising kids! (7 kids was already a lot!)  I don't want to do this anymore!!!  BUT, your will, not mine.  (sounds like a simple statement... but this has been an on going thing. lol)

Well, communications with the 18 yr old have stayed good and open; and communication with the 14 yr seems pretty good.  I'm grateful for that!

Today I talked with God about it  ... Valentines Day always makes me feel all mushy.  lol   I told Him how I realized how blessed I truly am.   My last birthed child left home 15 yrs ago .... had I not had my first grandaughter with me all those years I would have missed out on so much!!!!  She is unique ...different from all my other children in the aspect that they were never very involved in any extracurricular activities at all.  This one was in everything!!!!.... from 5th grade she's been in every sport you can think of ...honor roll student...yearbook staff ... one act plays....cheerleading...I mean everything!!!!  This year she has been awarded scholarships and qualified for grants for college and graduates May 25.....40 years exactly from the day I graduated .... and my birthday too!

My 14 yr old is in 8th grade... has a boyfriend and of course was all excited about Valentines Day ...........she had a wonderful day!!!  He gave her a cute stuffed animal with candy and my 18 yr old had a rose delivered to her at school.  The coach bragged on her ...etc. etc.  She carried on excitedly for 45 minutes after she got home today about what a wonderful day she had!

My 18 yr old also sent me a rose and balloon with a card telling me how much she loved me, and called me.

Just look at all the marvelous blessings I would have missed if I had followed my own will.  lol

Thank you God!!!

Much love to all,
Irish
p.s  I tried to post this yesterday but for some reason it wouldn't work

Yep I am a sentimental fool any day of the week.  Your post made me get teary eyed.  Your granddaughters are lucky to have you.  Happy Belated Valentines Day.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
