Ok I am sitting here this morning kindof mad, kindof sad, and kindof like "How Importain Is It".. Lastnight my A sister sent my daughter of a picture of herself on airplane (she looked dorkey) there was no words like How are you, how school, or anything just this dorkey picture... At first my daughter was not going to tell me she had received it because she didn't want me to say "You shouldn't have showed me!" Well I didn't say anthing but I laughed and so did my daughter and then I was like well this is typical of a drunk.....
I am having a hard time with do I do I not but my family on a black list which will block them from contacting the kids? When my A sister or A Dad contact them it only upsets them... My son still can't beleive there Alcoholics and asked me quite offten Mom are you sure there As? and I say YEP very much so.....My kids deserve to know the truth about there Aunts and Grandparents behavior...
It really bothers me to see my kids upset about my A families bad choices... I do my best to relate that to the kids that theses are my As familys choices not yours or mine BUT THERES....
We can't change the As behaviors or bad choices all we can change is us.... My kids have said the statement "we can only change us not them" here lately as I have been really struggling with others bad behavior or should I say stupity and then whinning about it....With the help of my kids I am working on changing me!!!!!
I don't really have any ESH on this for you, I just wanted you to know I am thinking about you. Just pray about it and I'm sure your HP will lead you to decide what you need to do.
I tend to get in the way of my step-daughter talking to her A mom b/c we only hear from her once every4-6 months. Then she makes promises and never follows through. I decided it was better, just to tell my step-daughter, that her biological mommy is sick, she loves her, but just can't be there for her right now than to let her talk to her every few months and get torn up. Now that may change when she gets older--I don't know. She actually saw her after Christmas--she didn't really know how to act. I don't want her (my step-daughter) to resent me for this decision, but I'm just doing the best I can and I hope one day she will understand.
