When and How does a " Newbie" become a " Member"

Hi-

 This may be a silly question, but when and how does a " newbie" become a member of MIP?? I am just curious, because I have belonged to MIP for some time now, and I still have  " newbie" under my name.......Just wondering.....Maybe I missed something. It all goes by the number of posts.  You are a "member" now.  It doesn't have any thing to do with length of time.
