Yesterday I started back to therapy with someone I have been seeing on and off for several years. She does a therapy that is called emdr (eye movement disensitation reprocessing). It is a type of therapy that helps you to connect to the things in the past that have caused your pain and reprocess them correctly. It helps to change behaviors and beliefs about yourself that are damaging for living a full life.
Growing up in an A family has caused many problems for me with anxiety and fear. My dad was never physically abusive but the anxieties and fears that I have gotten from it keep me stuck in my own damaging behaviors.
I have decided that this year I am going to do whatever it takes to get me unstuck. I am almost 54 years old and I do not plan on living the rest of my life being STUCK!
So...I am seeing this therapist...working with a phychiatrist to get my anxiety and depression meds regulated and have decided that after working on my issues about my compulsive overeating for a while, I am considering weight loss surgery. It is time for me to do what I need to do for ME to be happy with myself and I intend to do that.
