The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
for me i think this year is truly going to be new...me focusing on new ways of handling my emotions,my relationships, new ways of reaching out for the help i need, new ways of trusting myself and being wrecked by the momentary difficulties, new ways of saying no and knowing that no can be just as productive as yes.
something an accupuncturist said to me once has rung true ever since and has helped me so many times. i want to share it with you. it is simply...
vision.decision.action.
to use your imagination/HP/peaceful mind to see what you know deep inside...to see what you want, how you want your life, your day, your state of mind, your home, your relationships to be. have a vision.
then make a decision based on that vision...small or large, but make that decision.
then often the hardest part for me but the most empowering, take action. DO SOMETHING. follow through with action.
i send prayers of thanks and love to you all. i am so happy to have found you...and myself in your posts.
happy, happy new year. may it be filled with beautiful visions, decisions and actions.
I really like that form of thinking. It reminds me of our Al-Anon 3 A's... Awareness, acceptance and action. The vision being an awakening or awareness of something that needs to be dealt with, the decision being coming to terms with the reality or acceptance of the issue and finally taking the action to work through the situation or issue. I think when I struggle with the action portion of the equasion I need to go back a step to see if I truly accepted or made a solid decision about my situation or issue. Hopefully with the help of a honest sponsor I can then continue to work through and seek the right solution for me.
I have a lot of work to do on this, and am grateful for the reminder. I, like, you, get stuck on the action. It is then that the Serenity Prayer kicks in for me.
being new to al anon, i am thrilled to hear your 3 A's. awareness, acceptance, action. thank you for sharing that. a question....what does lol stand for?
Here are some things that have helped me since in the program.
Go face to face meeting & online meeting.
post on the board here on the site. I have gotten a lot of good feed back.
· In this program u learn that u have choices. In Alanon we don’t give advice but only suggestions.
· Set support system. people do not judge. You need someone who can go for coffee on a bad day, or pick up a phone and call when in trouble. The support is what is important when you first this program.
Have a sponsor. Someone work one on one with you.
You don’t have to do this the minute u come to the program but I suggest that u do it when u can. It help.
