Celebrating New Year's Eve

Just wanted to briefly talk about New Year's Eve - if any of your lives are like mine - before recovery I spent many a New Year's Eve miserable.  Usually at a family party I didn't want to go to, watching people drink, play cards, etc. - just nothing enjoyable for me.

Thankfully today, I have a program that lets me know that I have the choice to do whatever I want to celebrate New Year's Eve (within reason).  I have the ability to stay home, go to a meeting, go to a friends' home, or go to that family party if I want.

I don't have to do anything I don't want to & neither do you - Remember you have the option to celebrate or not celebrate.  It's ok to take care of ourselves.

I hope that each of you will start the New Year out the best way possible - taking care of yourself & doing something good for you.

Please be safe & I hope to visit with you all next year . . .

Progress not Perfection,

Rita

Great post RITA!!!!!

I am so looking forward to New Year's -- not because of any party, but because we have a meeting and I, again, get to CHOOSE to be around my Alanon family that has embraced me with love, care, and support.  What better way to start off a seamingly TOUGH upcoming year?

with love to all

Rita,

Thanks for the reinforcement. I am going to hunker down and stay warm and light some candles and enjoy the snow.

Happy New Year to you.

((((((((((((Rita)))))))))),

Happy New Year to you too!  Thanks for the wonderful reminder. The choices we make can either make us miserable or happy.  I choose to work on the ones that will make me happy. I have a few bad memories of hubby's new year's eve a couple of years ago. But things have changed and so have we.  We will spend the time watching football and relaxing. It's our first sober new year's eve and day in several years.  I am so looking foward to it.  We've had a hard year, and are ready to move foward. I don't know what the new year holds for us.  But the one thing I do know for for sure is that whatever comes our way, I can face it. I am determined to be happy no matter what.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,

Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
