The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I have a friend here in England who has never mastered the English language. Her first language is Cantonese. Second language Manderin.
She's really struggling here. As you will all know living with active alcoholism is isolating at the best of times but with a language barrier this is compounded.
Is there any way to get access to material in her own language that could at least allow her to access Alanon literature????
Hi Mon, I did a google search for cantonese alanon. I found this site... http://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/site/scripts/links.php which had a link when you scroll down their page to FindSupport A free directory that lists self help groups, support groups and charities in the UK.
Visit: Find Support
I clicked on that link and got this page... http://www.findsupport.co.uk/ On that page I went to the Directory link (far left side of page) and it lists different categories. When I tried to click on the Addictions and Dependency link to see the groups in that category, I got a page saying access forbidden. Now perhaps this is because I live in the U.S.?? Not sure, but thought I'd share those links with you and perhaps you will be able to get thru and find something for your friend.
You can also try calling the WSO office (1-800-425-2666).
Luv, Kis
